Bar Coding Factoids: RF Terminal
Emulation 10 Bullet Overview—A/S 400 & Unix Hosts · Have an RF site survey done to determine the number and locations for Access Points. · Extend existing Ethernet LAN to Access Point mount locations. · Install AP’s--power sent to AP’s over Ethernet, no new outlets needed. · Configure and manage AP’s using Web browser from any PC on network. · Give RF devices IP addresses and set up radios to “talk” to APs. · Run Terminal Emulation client software on hand held RF terminals. · Configure TE clients’ “telenet session” with host. Tweak screen colors, set up bar code scanner, re-map keys, hide / enable user config menus, enable auto log in, etc. · Adjust full size terminal screens on host to fit on smaller hand held screens. · Add bar codes to pick locations, put-away slots, products, cases, pallets, etc. ·
Scan data from warehouse aisles or shop floor. Data is input into
host software as if it were key entered from a terminal or PC. No pick
tickets, or manual data entry required---collected data is sent to host in
“real-time”. Host sends errors and /or validates performed tasks in real
time, directs users re new tasks.
